Hmmmm...interesting article there Walter. I'd say there's a point to be made about the local loop bottleneck which currently puts a fundamental constraint on yer average consumers willingness to attempt the download of a CD's worth of music.

But what wasn't considered is the birthing of ADSL(as one example) technology which begins to overturn the local loop bottleneck argument. It'll take some time for a level of ubiquity to be attained, but in dense population centers(like NYC, Boston, etc.), it's already well underway. From there it's a very short hop to music/video downloads, not to mention all the various streaming applications(I'm listening to some cool Cajun blues music streaming from the Killpopradio site even as I'm typing this).

In a nutshell, the next 5 years are gonna be VERY interesting in these market sectors.
