SANTA CLARA, Calif. (ChipWire/EBN) -- Intel Corp. here has confirmed analyst reports of difficulties in ramping faster processors using the company's new 0.18-micron process, which is delaying the Coppermine microprocessor.

Analysts and a company spokesman downplayed the difficulties, which will delay the Coppermine desktop MPU from September until about November, the spokesman said.

In addition, the mobile version of the Pentium III will launch at 500 MHz, not the 600-MHz speed that was originally planned.

Instead, Intel will take shelter behind its 0.25-micron manufacturing process, which has performed beyond expectations and allowed Intel to increase both the pace and the speeds of its microprocessor introductions. The spokesman said a corresponding round of Pentium II price cuts is expected soon; analysts said they could occur as early as next week, to essentially remove the chips from the market.

"In relative terms, it's a minor issue," said a spokesman for Intel. "The big issues are that OEMs still get 600-MHz [processors], only at 0.25-micron, not 0.18. They'll still get Pentium III for mobiles but at 500-MHz, rather than 600-MHz. And the third thing is the accelerated price cuts, which always makes OEMs happy."

paul, that camera was removed from markets b/c it was said that could see through bathing suits. while not entirely true, it did highlight certain curvatures so that it did appear that way.

ot, on a slow day, to Paul and voyeurs:
RE:
How will I run around in my house nude in the dark.<VVBG> The peeping toms would love you!:)

Quite strange how various posts seem to trigger my miniscule literary background, but I couldn't help but envision this William Carlos Williams poem (as much as I tried not to <g>).

DANSE RUSSE

If I when my wife is sleeping
and the baby and Kathleen
are sleeping
and the sun is a flame-white disc
in silken mists
above shining trees,--
if I in my north room
dance naked, grotesquely
before my mirror
waving my shirt round my head
and singing softly to myself:
"I am lonely, lonely.
I was born to be lonely,
I am best so!"
If I admire my arms, my face,
my shoulders, flanks, buttocks
against the yellow drawn shades,--
Who shall say I am not
the happy genius of my household?
