It has been reported by Drew MCCarron at Mercury Research that INTC's celeron 300 chip dropped in price from $148 in the first quarter of 1998 to $54 in the first quarter of 1999, indicating that intc is doing some serious discounting. The impact on AMD 's asp as well as INTC's has to be significant. The k-7 couldn't be coming out at a better time.

Sure it could. A month ago (etc.). Seriously, though. The fact is that AMD desperately NEED the K7. Now. The sooner the better.
