Dorine & All, here's an article on Cpq and mentions Dell...

NEW YORK, June 17 (Reuters) - Merrill Lynch made the following comments Thursday after downgrading its long-term rating on computer maker Compaq Computer Corp. to accumulate from buy.

Analyst Steve Milunovich, who kept his near-term rating at neutral, said in a brief, "There continues to be a lack of leadership and we believe Dell <DELL.O> is taking share from Compaq."

Management pre-announced a quarterly loss of up to $0.15 per share. This loss comes in the face of continued pricing pressure, poor revenue growth and an uncompetitive cost structure.

"Additionally, revenue will be flat at about $9.4 billion, versus our estimate of 5 percent sequential growth," he said.

"Gross margins were flat versus our estimate of slightly up and operating expenses were higher than we had anticipated," he said.

Compaq, slumped to a new 52-week low of 20-1/16 this morning, but recovered this afternoon to 22-1/4, up 1/16 from Wednesday.

Just can't understand why Rosen didn't rein in 5fer long before this. Maybe Rosen needs to be replaced. In fact, the whole board of directors.
