interesting info from etrade, a series of numbers showed up in my account balances instead of the WAVO symbol, i wrote etrade and asked what was up, here is the response:

The number that you are seeing is called a cusip number, WAVO is going through reorganization and a new ticker symbol has yet to be determined. You may need to go through a broker to complete a trade. I apologize for this inconvenience.

Reed, you've followed this company for a while. Have you had any contact with IR or management? I have e-mailed David Deeds, tech director Thom Kozik and Jennifer Schreier, and e-mailed Kozik and Schreier in recent weeks, all without response.

Kozik had impressed me earlier by answering my questions via e-mail. Now I'm concerned that companies such as Wink (partnering with Microsoft), Liberate, Intel (using Intercast and partnering with NBC and PBS) are using the VBI to offer enhanced television, which sends Web links to your computer simultaneously with the program you're watching on your television.

I've read now that ACTV has a product called HyperTV that does the same thing.

Wavo has dropped the ball in this area. And the lack of a response from management, even from IR (Schreier's job) tells me that they have no answers. I had a chance to read the WAVO board on AOL last night and see you're there as well. There is one well-informed poster there (I forget his name) who seems to share similar concerns.

I think this company badly needs to sell out to a bigger player who can make better use of its products.

So, what do you think?

It's pretty clear that Microsoft has lost interest in Wavo for the desktop and for WebTV. Probably because Wavo's CEO is about as responsive to his business partners as he is to investors.

I neglected to mention that Wavo partner Hauppage's recent DTV announcement omitted any mention of Wavo, when this would have provided a perfect opportunity for Wavo to tout enhanced TV.

The other question I had for management was about the amount of royalties, if any, Wavo will receive from Intel for Intercast. Intel is going live 24 hours a day with PBS for enhanced TV starting next spring. Will this mean revenue for Wavo, or not?
