I don't know whether you're alone in thinking this, but I heartily disagree. I don't like Swiss Army Knife sites that try to do everything and do none of them well.

SI does one thing and does it superbly. I don't find any hardship switching to other sites when I need them, or keeping open two or more browser windows if I really have to do multiple things on line so rapidly that I can't wait for a new site to come up.

I am QUITE HAPPY not having all the jerks from Yahoo and Exite and Raging Bull and other chat lines here. Let them stay where their other toys are. If SI gets too much stuff, it may attract lots more people, and will inevitably bring the garbage that keeps me off those sites and happy here. We don't NEED a ton more features and people. Right sized is right sized.

Let's have SI keep doing its thing and keep doing it well. As soon as they try to add more and more stuff, inevitably a) their focus will shift so that the quality of the basic message boards will deteriorate, b) they will attract people who are really interested in the other stuff but will dump nonsense on the boards while they're here, c) things will slow to a crawl like they are on other chat boards, and 4) all this new stuff they try out and add will inevitably crash the board far moe often.

Chris don't you think adding financial services to this site would be a huge benefit, real time quotes and on-screen trading if you want it?

Michelle,

Adding Realtime quotes to this site would likely exhaust the entire Paul Allen Empire. It would cost a small fortune...

I forget just how many registered users there are on SI - 100,000??? well, at approx a $.01/quote - well you can do the math.

I doubt you will see it as a free addition to SI...not to mention Datek doesnt likely have the facility or the capability to provide it to SI.

Cheers
Carole
