Those closest to Stalin during the war, including Kruschev, and Stalin's biographers have all remarked how highly Hitler was thought of by Stalin, and how genuinely hurt and surprised he was in 41. Russian innocence in WWII extends about as far as Poland, which they conspired to carve up with Germany.

Its ironic that history's two totalitarian geniuses were fated to go at each other's throats. ;)
