Perhaps some words got left out of this statement. I find it impossible to disagree with this. In order to disagree with something, it has to be comprehensible. Maybe if you cut out the word "why" it would make sense, grammatically. There still are some lacunae in the thought processes, though, that one has to fill in.

As I piece it together, though, I think that we may agree that what the Fed did last fall certainly enabled and encouraged the reckless speculation that occurred since then. But that was not "control"--that was lack of control. My guess is that they won't repeat that particular mistake.
