<How can he have forgotten that lower price PC's are good for AOL?>

I found this on CBS Marketwatch:
"What's a bane to Compaq is a boon for the Net,"

Thank you very much for making these valid points so well.
The trends in PC sales are good for AOL and I think that's what I ment as being a very important factor in AOL's success..
I agree with you that the increase in E-commerce is going to be very positive for AOL. (Last 1/4's increase was remarkable! and that is a generally a slow 1/4).
Over the past 4 years I have used and evaluated AOL,concentric, msn, att, bell atlantic, and erols ISP.
Using a non-aol isp forces one to navigate the net in their own way and has created a good learning experience for me. Because I have invested more and more $$$ in aol, I have returned to AOL as my ISP ( I have two ISP's in my home now on 2 computers, both of them AOL.)
The differece in the quality of AOL today compared to 4 years ago is astounding! Their marketing acumen is brilliant.

I have helped several people find their way into the PC arena and onto the net. I used to put newbies on Concentric because they have a pricing advantage ( if you pay ahead it is only $13.00 a month).
Recently I have changed some of these people over to AOL. It is surprising how much happier they are! I missed the point about AOL's simplicity. Many have a learning curve that needs to be supported by the AOL process which focuses on making things easy and the use of great coloring-book type graphics.! The people now on AOL do much more navigation around the net and feel better about their abilities ( and no one cares about the price!) Some of us who are more technically attuned forget about what an ISP needs to be to service the MASS MARKEt! Luckily for stockholders, AOL never took their eye off the ball.

Just IMHO. Good day to you all.
