Good morning, Thean. I have what is probably a stupid question about the 30 day wash rule. Does it apply to this kind of situation: Say that Stock is purchased at $10 on 1-5-99 It drops to $5 dollars on 1-15-99 and another purchase is made then. It then jumps to $9 on 1-20-99 and all shares are sold. Can you offset the loss on the 1-5-99 shares against the profit on the 1-15-99 shares? In other words, does the rule only apply if you sell at a loss and then thereafter re-purchase within 30 days? TIA mph
