Doug, I am squarely against the gold standard, with me,, you can say it is a religious affair, since the times when one of my ancestors angered the almighty with that "golden calf" (VBG).

Fools gold is a sulfide, I am not sure which one I think it is either galena (lead sulfide) or maybe some other cheap stuff. Today there is a new quite durable fool gold, titanium nitride, looks like gold, but unlike gold which is soft, this stuff is super hard (used to coat drill bits and other high performance tools).
