Has the company voted preferred dividends in the past? I can't find any evidence that they have. Therefore I doubt that the preferred holders are particularly happy. They get no benefit from the appreciation of the stock about $2.50, and no dividends. Thus if they can get their money back they would be delighted.

As for the convertible preferred, if the holder shorts the stock and holds the preferred they would get any dividends, but also interest on the proceeds of the short, all while having no risk. I agree that the rewards would be higher if there were dividends, though, and the lack of them is no doubt why so many just converted and sold.
