Ten,

Mid-2000 is still the release date. Any questions?

Good thing that Intel is always 100% accurate and honest about their release dates.

Ten, Merced design flaws and delays. Is it your assertion that no work what so ever is done on Merced @ Chandler? That no one in Chandeler talks to Santa Clara? The message I get is the design is riddled with flaws, has not passed design verification. Will miss the origional intro date of 1 st qtr. 2000 by one year. That would be 1 st. qtr. 2001, a year late.. Prior to your message Intel's official party line was Merced by 1 st Qtr. 2000. Has the Merced now offically been pushed out to 3 rd. Qtr 2000. I'm hearing the 3 rd qtr date is top managments over optimistic deadline. And the design engineers working on the project think a more likly date will be at least six months out from that date based on the complexity of the chips new design and the current number of unresolved flaws in the design with appropriate rework and workaround engineering estimates. Bottom line expect a Merced delay. and more red faces in upper managment once they decide to listen to the guys doing the work. This sort of leaves Intel with a rather big hole in the chip trick sack. Now if K-7 is a better performer than zenon. And Merced is pushed out to 2001. AMD could have a chance to turn the upper end if the market upside down. Sanders says AMD has a multi K-7 expermental running already. Hello server market. What will dell do then??? Well we will all know in the fullenss of time. From the Nus News Desk, "That is all."
