Developers Conference in San Francisco's Moscone Center, Sun and
3Com outlined plans to develop a reference port of the Java(TM) 2
Platform, Micro Edition, Sun's highly optimized Java runtime
environment for consumer products, for 3Com's Palm(TM) operating
system (Palm OS(TM)) software later this year. The companies also
agreed to make Sun's K Virtual Machine (KVM), formerly known as
project KJava VM, a key component of the Java 2 Platform, Micro
Edition, available on the Palm OS software. The companies will
develop an end-to-end solution for delivering content and Java
applications to Palm Computing platform devices via Sun's
software products.

strategic technical and business alliance to develop new wireless

in Japan. The companies will work to integrate 3Com's

technologies with NTT DoCoMo's wireless network infrastructure.

Palm Computing, Inc., a 3Com company, announced availability of
the Palm VII(TM) connected organizer, the newest addition to

Palm Computing(R) platform. The Palm VII organizer uses a
wireless connection and the new Palm.Net(SM) wireless service to

conduct e-commerce transactions and send and receive instant
messages. The Palm VII organizer is now available at retailers in
