Now here's a post from RB that ought to get Walter's goat! By: Tweaker Reply To: None Friday, 18 Jun 1999 at 3:31 AM EDT Post # of 34524 Do the research...and put the pieces together. I work in technology with large companies all day, every day. I have a tech background and understand technology. The ability to have a secure "trackable" way to download music on the internet is big. This seems to be the focus of everyones interest in e.Digital for the time being, but consider this.... The current VOICEtimes Alliance is also very important for us to remember. I am not sure too many people here understand the technical and societal implications of Voice-To-Text and Text-To-Voice technology, so let me try to give a simple explanation. Having the ability to transmit information over contiguous and non-contiguous wireless connections is where the industry is headed. This is a fact. The ability to to integrate voice into mobile devices and enterprise solution software is a gigantic market on the horizon. The purpose of the VoiceTIMES alliance is to bring standards to this emerging market. These companies want to give mobile users the option of plug and play mobile devices. Where can Voice-To-Text and Text-To-Voice be integrated? Gee, uh, well,...not too many areas, with the exception of The Medical Industry, Law Enforcement, The Insurance Industry, The Service Industry, Field Sales Management, ERP (Enterprise Resource Management) Systems, Automobile,... point made. It is here ladies and gentleman that we begin to clearly see e.Digitals Micro O/S niche, and speculate the certain and indisputable future using only the facts. IMO, Microsoft is really the only company with a large enough presence in the market (business and consumer) to give e.Digital and their constituants some competition, but what would they use???? Windows CE? Not possible. Windows CE is sneaky, flimsey at best, and proprietary, closed architechture. The Windows CE OS uses Ram for storage and data exchange. If there is one thing that you should know about technology, Flash memory smokes this. (Beats it 20 fold) Windows CE 3.0 is not compatible with any other OS ... so essentially, all of the software developed for hand held devices would have to conform to ALL MSFT standards. Yeah, right, like that is ever going to happen. The e.Digital Micro OS is adjustable for ANY STANDARD. This has already happened. This is a fact. The micro os can work in cellular phones, digital cameras, music players, etc. Windows CE cannot and will never be able to. "How come" you say, because msft would have to completely change windows architecture to accomadate java embedded applications. Not only will they never do that, they don't have the time anymore. Speculation) Java from our friends at Sun Microsystems will be the e.Digital Micro O/S "fuel." There is quite a bit of technical stuff here for the average (non-technical) person. This is why it is still early for e.Digital. That is why large brokerage firms have not yet taken huge positions. They don't understand the technology. They will wait for the news. Relax folks...there will be more ups and downs for e.Digital. but make no mistake, eventually, the impact of e.Digital and its MANY PATENTED technologies, will be unprecedented. Tremendous! I have said this before on other posts...does anyone remember a company called USRobotics? We will have a similiar outcome with e.Digital. Look at the facts and know them well. Then remember that you are on a surf board with a tsunamie on the horizon behind you. I am starting to get emotional so I will stop at this time. I submit to you this... 1. DO YOU SEE THE FACTS OF THE BIG PICTURE? 2. If not, read this post again. -Tweaker
