JIM, SSP , your 56k modem has a practical limit of around 50k, the 56k is if the far end modem is 2 inches away ( as in a test lab) . The only real speed tuning you can get is to make sure you have the latest V.90 upgrade from your modem vendor's site. The 112,000 speed you have is for direct PC to PC connection as in a LAN set-up. If anyone has access to ADSL I urge you to get it, it is by far the fastest THROUGHPUT on the 'net. John
