Well, look at it this way, it creates leverage for Bezos having an alternate media source. Also, the game is sooo early, that these companies are partnering with everyone because it is an unknown how or what the next medium will be, and more importantly, how it will be delivered.
All anyone in the media (and I use that term across broad sectors) knows, is that there is no set way of how this convergence will look 5,10 years down the road (so I better have my fingers in as many cookie jars as possible) is what Bezos, et al are saying.

Alliances are nice, but it only counts if it brings real dollars to the bottom line.
