Question:

Recent company press reports blame the fall in the stock price on short sales and margin calls. Most brokers have a limit of from $5-$7 for marginable stocks. Therefore the margin call portion of the statement is not credible as margin calls would have occurred several weeks/months ago.

Do brokers have minimum stock prices for short sales?
