Alstom plans Rs 1-billion unit in Bangalore; decides to bid for NGEF

Alstom, the power multinational, plans to set up a manufacturing facility near here with an initial investment of around Rs 100 crore (Rs 1 billion).

In another interesting development, Alstom has also decided to bid for the ailing public-sector undertaking, NGEF Ltd.

"We had preliminary talks with Alstom officials. We also showed them the site for setting up the manufacturing facility," a top Karnataka government official said.

The official said the site identified for the facility is around 40 km from Bangalore. Alstom has another manufacturing facility near Calcutta......
