PS:I am not touching any POS issued by BTAB, Bear Sterns,Smith Barney et al.

Mohan--
I've been on this thread a long time... I've watched many newbies jump for all the POS. I have been very successful in avoiding the losers.

I follow 2 basic rules:
Rule #1. "It's the underwriter, stupid"
YES YES YES... If you stick with GS, MSDW, and ML deals you will average 200-300% on your portfolio, EYES CLOSED, WITHOUT A DOUBT..

Absolutely AVOID all the other underwriters.
JUST SAY NO. It's that simply.
There are at least 2-4 GS, ML, MSDW deals a month. Why is everyone taking the rest of the crap offered?

Rule #2. "It's the BUZZ, stupid"
NEVER NEVER NEVER accept an allocation for an IPO that has a whimpy SI thread.

This is such a simply rule.. JUST count the number of messages on that IPOs thread.
OVER AND OVER again, the hot deals had many many messages BEFORE THEY PRICED!!!.
Check Ariba...already 50+ messages
ETYS had 40+
TSCM had 40+
ALL BEFORE THEY PRICED..

Look at the STAD, MAIL, APNT, STDA threads...
They're virually empty.

BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ is the second key.

I'VE ELABORATED ON THIS THEME IN A NEW THREAD CALLED
Topannuity's Guide to Investing in IPO's

Read my long post there.
IT WILL SAVE ALL YOU NEWBIE'S ASSES!!!!
