I don't disagree with anything you say. Well said. The curse of slavery is strong upon the South.

It was hated even in its time, by some. I used to collect Louisiana literature, I have some things written before the Great War, some of it by free people of color, who built an alternate society in New Orleans before the war. The sad thing is that slavery was treated as the inevitable status quo, but the injustices were recorded.
