Excite At Home, General Magic Plan Free Voice Mail, WSJ Says

Bloomberg News

Redwood City, California, June 17 (Bloomberg) -- Excite At
Home Corp. plans to offer a free voice mail and fax service to
users of its Web site through a joint venture with General Magic
Inc., people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street
Journal. Through the service, users would be able receive voice
mail messages and faxes from a special free phone number and e-
mail account, and listen to those messages and faxes as audio
files sent to them automatically. Both Excite At Home and General
Magic declined comment on the service, which may be announced as
early as Monday, the paper reported.

General Magic on Tuesday introduced myTalk, a free Internet
service that lets people manage their e-mail over any phone line
using their own voice commands.
