cool.
i sold some covered calls on some shares. sold october 25's for 1 5/8...that gives. bought it for 22 1/2. if it gets called, i'll end up with 4 1/8 points or 18% return in 4 months....if it doesn't i've made 162.5 bucks (per contract, obviously) plus interest just to hold it. if it goes to 50, i'll be green with envy, but not dissatisfied. if it goes to 5, i'll be sad.

that's the story, and i'm sticking to it..... -g-

Compaq Computer Corp. angered Wall Street yesterday when it held a conference call to warn that it will post its first quarterly loss in eight years when it reports second-quarter earnings in July.

Analysts, well aware of Compaq's continuing problems, were outraged not by the news itself, but by the manner in which it was delivered.

Those who participated in the call characterized it as "tense," "testy," and "fraught with uncertainty".

"They really didn't give us any guidance and I suspect that they alienated all of us on the call," said Lou Mazzucchelli, an analyst with Gerard Klauer Mattison. "They were testy, and refused to answer the questions we needed answered," such as who will replace CEO Eckhard Pfeiffer.
