jmac - Re: "When you compare its record with that of every other leading tech company, INTC has underperformed big time"

You were pretty DUMB to invest in Intel - weren't you?

How do you define "Leading"? By stock performance?

How's Oracle done?
How's Compaq done?
How's 3COM done?

Let's see...Below are total returns for each security from June 17, 1996 to June 14, 1999

INTC 225%
ORCL 106%
CPQ 135%
MSFT 435%
HWP 92%
IBM 389%
COMS (42%)
AMD 29%
NSM 34%
TXN 429%
AOL 2121%

S&P500 101%

Conclusion: Intel has doen better than most companies, worse than several notable names. Congratulations to anyone who picked all the winners. Lets do this again in six months and see what it looks like.

regards,
jh

That's one heck of a statement, EVERY one? and you are choosing a 3 year time frame, your words were 3 years.
