[wsj etc] hi dave, stk1 and all, don't know if you saw this: here's what today's wsj had to say about acquisitions by dt (doesn't sound like vocl): "Prospect of Acquisition In meetings with institutional investors, Deutsche Telekom Chief Executive Ron Sommer has dangled the prospect of a large acquisition, the sale of the company's cable operations and a spinoff of its T-Online Internet business. Speaking in Milan Thursday, Mr. Sommer reiterated that he wouldn't exclude acquiring a U.S. mobile-phone company in the long term. Deutsche Telekom's sales pitch to investors across Europe marks one of the first times that a company has ventured so broadly beyond its own borders. That's due in large part to the euro, the new common currency of 292 million people in 11 countries. The shares weren't marketed to individual investors in non-euro countries, such as Britain and Switzerland. It's far from clear that pan-European retail offerings will quickly become standard. Rules vary from country to country, and advertising must be done locally. Moreover, the companies themselves are still primarily known within their home markets. Deutsche Telekom had the advantage of being a big blue-chip company in one of the best-performing sectors. The use of incentives -- a two-euro discount off the final share price and a bonus share for every 10 held through August 2000 -- also helped. But such incentives tend to be used by state-controlled companies, not private-sector firms. As a result, it's not clear what company will follow Deutsche Telekom's lead." --- fwiw am feeling rather optimistic regarding vocl (it's friday and am in a pretty good mood, so please discount these ruminations accordingly) ... seems to me, we are owners in a company with the goods in a market segment (voip) which is just starting a ramp in an industry which i believe some would consider is about to undergo a "10x change"... altho maybe a tad early, seems to me that this is all about inflection points and so forth... and to boot... there's been a blue light special on !! also fwiw am guessing that vocl has seen more than one offer in the last 6 mo from major systems player(s) and am choosing to give vocl credit for (at least) holding out ... actually think they would prefer to make a go of it on their own... and simply make a ton of $ (for themselves and their shareholders)... :) --- have you been following the globes regarding csco (old news) (published) rumor has it that cisco has had its eye on voclf... but has not been willing to pay top dollar... and the compromise reached was the cooperation agreement... here's a link:globes.co.il and another:globes.co.il --- personally don't really think it's gonna be cisco, but on another note, being rather single minded... back to fujitsu speculations: don't know if you or anyone else liked p9 and 10 of the 98 annual report, but those pages warmed the cockles of my heart: testimonials by mikio ohtsuki (president fujitsu business systems ltd) and tsuneo kitaura (managing director data communications japan telecom co. ltd) have a good weekend, s
