All it requires is now many trades will the system handle in a 3 day period at least if the answer is more then 100k then NT will not handle the load.

By the way I got 3 days by trading day plus 2 day to finalize it.

Now lets say they have to keep the trades in the system for a week.
I defy you to find a company that uses any MSFT product or database to keep that type of volume on their systems.

I suggest that you leave this O/S sytem question alone cause you have no clue at all.

I am not a UNIX person all major brokerage houses keep all of their information on their mainframes not UNIX or MSFT they might collect this info thru them but trust me they do not keep them and i would be very surprised if ASTN will keep their info on the PC(aka UNIX MSFT) side.

MST,

Don't get snotty with me. I was confirming the fact that NT does suck for large scale applications. I run a shop that uses NT as well as UNIX and Solaris stations and I know what I'm talking about. We have about 10K users and I'm good at what I do.

Just like I knew what I was talking about when I told you I would cover in the 6's.

So byte me, I am an IT expert with 13 years under my belt you little snot.

even the SI architects will tell you

that NT scales terribly, and most of
their problems here on SI stem from
that fact. this may help explain why
ORCL continues to do well. I don't
know if ASTN using NT is really a
problem, but arguing that NT is
a good scaleable solution is futile.

Shorts here will use any angle to
discredit ASTN and take it down
further; you should know that by
now and be unfettered by it.

"(remember, UTS modules work off of ATED encryption devices, and have cellular, internet and intranet connectivity -- might that matter?)"

Do you happen to know if ATED encryption has been approved for export by the Commerce Department? The only encryption capability that I am aware of that has government approval is RSA Data Security's public key algorithm. By the way, 128-bit encryption is not available for export, only 40-bit. The CIA, NSA and DIA all get a little edgy on this topic.

For Ashton to have VTS approved for use outside the US, I am not sure what approval process they may need to go through for the encryption capability. I believe this will be applicable to all ECN's. Anyone have any opinions or facts to offer on this topic?
