Depends if it is a momentum or earnings trade, positional trade, or an investment.

Investment ... when a solid stock gets bashed badly or there is a wholesale sector sale, I get leaps when the dust clears. Bought AMAT leaps when the stock was at 25ish and 35ish way back when.

Positional trades I like 4-6 months out, long-enough to encompass a some earnings reports and developments.

Momentum/earnings trade ... 1-2 month out is ok. Bail on target or if it does not work out within a certain time frame. The ORCL trade was a recent example of this, I bailed at the gap and did not wait for 35.

What target do you get for MOT?
