Can anybody figure out a way to delete these obnoxious Datek banner ads from SI? Maybe using Browsemaster? Please pm me if you have a hack for this.

Rick

How do I do this ...

>> I copy the whole bunch to a HTML file<<

My favourites are stored as file in C:\WINDOWS\FAVORI~1\*.URL (DOS 8.3) or "C:\Windows\Favourites\*.URL" using long filename support.

I use DOS copy to append the whole mess into one big text file.

COPY *.URL BIG_MESS.URL

This file will have all my URLs, plus some extra garbage like "[Internet Shortcut] and stuff like 'Modified' and 'Accessed' dates. I just use a text editor to get rid of the stuff and turn what's left into HTML.

I think an example will help

My favorite in the file ...

"C:\Windows\Favorites\HEREITIS.URL"

contains the following ...

[InternetShortcut]
URL=http://here_it_is.com/&Modified=609ACBE64796BE0147

I change this to ...

<A HREF="http://here_it_is.com"> Here</A>, It Is.

I add this line to my .HTM file and if I click on 'Here', I'll be taken to the 'here_it_is' URL.

I've only used one URL here, but you could just as easily edit a hundred using search and replace options available with most editors.

Note: I recently 'blended' my favorites so I had to make up one for this example.

Cheers, PW.

When I finished the earlier post, I wondered if anyone would ask 'HOW.'

P.S. When done, the thing looks like this ...

[I just Cut & Pasted a chunk from one of my .HTM files. Please overlook the mess.]
