Leave the no-opoly alone. Don't regulate when a monopoly does not exist. This article agrees with MikeM and myself.

Hi Steve,

Yes it is doable, Nortel is demo-ing the system in Europe. It is far more feasible in Europe and Asia due to the fact that they usually have 200 or so homes downstream from a transformer. There is a bridge that is required to circumvent the signal distortion the x-former causes. It is deemed economically feasible there, however, in N. America, (US and Canada), the system is configured so that about 5 to 10 homes are serviced by each Xformer. This raises the cost of the system beyond what is considered the hurdle rate today. HTH
