I hate 1000 share positions for just the reason you stated. I see people trading 1000 and 2000 shares of stocks like YHOO or CMGI, well, they have a lot more guts than I do.

Alan...

You have answered an ongoing question I've always had. What size should the trade be? At first, I thought folks who were going for teenies and eighths must be trading multi thousands of shares. That no longer seems like reality.

I've often taken just 200 or 300 share positions and been happy with a half or 3/4 gain in a couple of days. I don't like a lot of exposure.

Would like to see expansion on this "size" idea, from you more active traders. What works for you?
