No, no more FCS for me. My interests these days are
in using FCS to build SANs and/or clustering w/FCVI.
But I'm not actively involved with such development
at the moment.

My memories of ANCR are from the early '90s when
they used their VHSI chip set. We had a prototype
adapter that we wanted to send data through their
switch. They tossed us some documentation with
some additional handwritten instructions and wished
us well. Luckily, we got things working, although
the chip set was never considered solid by us.

From what I hear these days QLGC has the best
chip set out there now. Has that changed? BTW,
a very interesting private company, Troika, is
developing their own chip set. I have no details
about them other than what I learned during an
interview with them.

As for ANCR, perhaps their next generation
chip set and switch are better. I can't say that
I've used them lately. But I think Brocade
has a better image at the moment. They seem
to build quality.

Now, please don't ask my what I mean by
that. As I said, this is nothing more than
a personal choice. I don't like to be trading
often. I'd rather invest and hang on for a
number of years. With ANCR, I feel that
they are much too volatile for my taste.
In fact, QLGC seems more stable to me.
And keep in mind, ANCR was there in
the very beginning. I still remember when
ANCR and AMTI had their huge run ups,
then flamed out.

If anything, I'd wait for ANCR to heat up
really hot, then short it. BTW, so they
have a deal with Sun. I remember when
they had a deal with IBM. Things happen.
There are some hungry companies out
there that can move fast. I'm keeping
my eyes open for Troika.
