Just another way that countries like to shoot themselves in the foot. These chips that Korea would be importing are used to export fully assembled PCs to other markets (as well as for internal consumption). Therefore they are simply taxing local businesses making exports less competitive. Business has a habit of moving elsewhere when that happens.

First of all, this sounds like a rather arbitrary classification. Slotted processors are considered "components," but socketed processors are considered "chips" and aren't subject to the same tariff? And second, I didn't know we were even selling anything to North Korea. I don't think the U.S. State Department would appreciate Intel selling anything powerful enough for North Korea to use in potential nuclear weapons development. Tenchusatsu
