Just another way that countries like to shoot themselves in the foot. These chips that Korea would be importing are used to export fully assembled PCs to other markets (as well as for internal consumption). Therefore they are simply taxing local businesses making exports less competitive. Business has a habit of moving elsewhere when that happens.

<The tariff does not involve Intel's socketed processors. The spokesman said he thought the tariff applied only to North Korea, but he wasn't sure.>

Oh great. First of all, this sounds like a rather arbitrary classification. Slotted processors are considered "components," but socketed processors are considered "chips" and aren't subject to the same tariff?

And second, I didn't know we were even selling anything to North Korea. I don't think the U.S. State Department would appreciate Intel selling anything powerful enough for North Korea to use in potential nuclear weapons development.

Streak of bad luck..... They make money now and can't wait for when things go better for them. Just think what kind of cash they will generate!!

I'be owned INTC since march 1995 and nothing has changed regarding the negative news always being generated. Just have to live with it.
