Last time we had a cup and handle type pattern and MSFT hit 85 we continued to the last high around 95 and change.

his sell advice is based on 8% stops which would have caused me to sell all my winners such as yahoo, dell, cisco and msft at much lower prices.

This is your initial stop below your buy price. After you have a profit then you give the stock more room for exactly the reason you say.
