BRCD Brocade Communications. Vol spiked late in the day up 21 1/2 on 477k volume. I
can't find any news on it. May be worth looking at similar companies in sector on Monday.
BTW it's a recent IPO. (

Neil,

So I take it that Mark's source was "open" on 3 x 10k trial, wouldn't "speculate" about its readiness, but was "mum" on Clariion's switch. Mum is a pretty good fallback. That's almost as good as a "nod" to the other "likely candidate."

I see BRCD is back to software again. Can't they do anything "hard.?" And weren't they already supposed to be doing what the "software upgrade" will now allow them to do correctly?

In Network World, I noticed the "new" IBM switch is "about" 16 ports. Huh?

Mark is sharp on one thing though, technical reporting really has dumbed down.

Douglas

Oh, another thing (I know, nobody asked), with Clariion's getting a jump on sales by hiring 400 engineering and support staff in the next few months, finding and then training them to field qualification incremental to sales will be tricky. KISS hardware is paramount, and interoperability with other devices becomes less of an issue with a fully public/private self-discovery capable and zoning optimized switch. Support and Manageability are the next major constraints to the SAN market.

Sun's support is top notch and widespread, and Hitachi support inherits EDS' turf. Try getting a SAN from Dell within 3 months. Or try getting one at all right now from Compaq, they are training VARs (Vultures After Rebates). Jiminy Cricket!
