<re: Datek Bad-Boys>

Tae,

I believe that Paul's private record of investing his Microsoft $ at one point was almost like an industry joke - he was known for blowing huge sums on mega-bad investments. But, then he started hitting home runs making Billions, becoming perceived as a brilliant visionary investor. He seems to be kind of a tech-Buffett, seeing things others don't see early on - but he's sponsored some pretty bizarre stuff along the way. I would expect that his Datek investment will probably turn out to be a great one, why if they ever get their act together they might become as well-regarded as ETrade ;)

Unfortunately, in our system their is not always a correlation between customer service, business ethics, and financial success. It's one of the big weaknesses in capitalism today, IMHO. Not to judge it, it just means that as a society, we are often forced (because the BIG crush the SMALL) to deal with shoddy, snobby (or non-) service on a massive scale, everywhere we turn. I've already filed my complaint about it over in the "bash EGRP" thread ;) The multi-billion dollar Datek success story is just another example of this phenomena at work.

This may be a little OT, but there is a brokerage survey going on <G>
