The Power of Virtual Integration -- By Michael Dell

Through technology and the Internet, an irreversible process of "disintermediation" is occurring in the traditional value chain of business. This process is forcing change in all industries as it transforms the transactions and the relationships between "producers" and "consumers." With no geographic or time boundaries, the Internet compels companies to rapidly shift the way they operate and forge "virtual" links/relationships with customers, suppliers and partners. It is the power of this "virtual" integration that will distinguish market leaders in the next millennium.

Confirmed speaker:
Michael S. Dell, Chairman and CEO, Dell Computer Corporation >>

darrell.....re: abandon the sinki ng compaq ship...

let's not think as stock analysts, for to do so we would have to enter "through the looking glass" ....if you are old enough to remember the plight of chrysler, not just sinking but at the bottom...government rescue aside, it was the new management that pulled it off...compaq has some profitable components...the correct management will emphasize these, and cast off the lesser components...much as gerstner did...

so are you telling me cpq will never recover...headed for chapter 11...sales will drop to zero...as far as the mad hatter analysts how wrong have they been about cpq over the last two quarters, so when the company announces a loss, they agree? give me a break darrell...
