Gene, If it doesn't cannibalize Intel chips, then it has to displace competitive chips. And Intel is in the unenviable position of competing with their main customers. In other words, the customers are IBM, Sun, HWP, DEC, etc., and with the possible exception of DEC (I don't remember if they kept this class of chips when Compaq started writing off the world), the customers have to be convinced to displace their inhouse products. Not an impossible task, but the chip had better be good. MB
