Compatibility means nothing without a design-in. Let's hope the relationship between EDIG and IBM VoiceTIMES will results in some design-ins.

(I'm speaking about the Microdrive. I know EDIG is designed into one CF devices already.)

Bob, I stopped at the newsstand to read the small article in Popular Science that mentioned e.Digital and "that company's MicroOS file management system." I almost missed it (it was so small),but the picture of the LYRA caught my eye. I see what you mean: it was good to see e.Digital on that glossy page.

Really now, what could EDIG possibly gain from a deal with Sony?

“Sony, for one, has said it is working on a line of portable devices using its so-called ''memory stick'' technology that saves data like music files on a special storage device that looks like a stick of gum.”

''Sony's stick Walkman is not going to come out in dribs and drabs ... it's going to go out in big boxes to Wal-Mart and they're going to promote it heavily,'' Hardie said.

"Sony Electronics... to sell its consumer electronics directly to customers through the Web"

"Sony's not in a situation like Compaq, reacting to everyone--what Sony can do is be the leader."

a Sony e-commerce site could easily leverage the company's successful movie studio and music label, the ultra-popular PlayStation gaming device, the cutting-edge Vaio notebooks, and Sony's well-known and well-regarded television and audio devices.
