Reading too much here on SI.

Therefore forgetting whether
anyone gave a perspective
on recent news that certain Big Boys
are intent on entering
file server appliance market.

I wonder how this will impact NTAP,
short term (<1yr), and long term (several years).
I am concerned...

George

MileHigh-- sorry for my flip response. my sense of humour isn't always funny, I'm afraid. Shame on me :)

Don't know about rev per sale, but just reading a report by BancBoston RobStephens on Multex. They could the dell deal to be worth a "conservative" $40 million for FY2000 which starts with July quarter.
That's about 10% of their estimate for 2000 revs, and they believe it to be quite conservative.

BBRS also count the deal with MSFT for joint development and marketing of caching products as a "major positive for the company"

Here is their summary if you haven't seen it:

>>"We believe NTAP extremely well positioned in the Internet infrastructure market, with upside to earnings possible (the Dell estimate is conservative).

>>"NTAP has been one of the most consistent companies. Give its horizontal expansion strategy, a great product portfolio, and a fast explanding customer base, BBRS believes it is *one of the best positioned companies in the systems industry*.

>>"NTAP reminds us of EMC a few years before it reached $1B revenues, and CSCO in the late 1980's, when it drove to be the dominant player in the then new networking industry.

>>"The file serviing and caching market is huge and fast growing, and we believe NTAP will be a category winner in this space.

>>"We view NTAP as a major up and coming Internet infrastructure Co with a huge market opportunity, fast growth strategy, market leadership and strong execution."<<

me? I am buying more Monday, no joke. :)
