Frank, the phone has an extendable antenna, but given the depth of coverage in the metro NY area and the fact that I've only had the phone a few days, I can't really comment on sensitivity.

Uncle Frank...I have a QCP2700 and am nearly 13 miles from the nearest tower....I can still make a call with zero bars, but it usually drops out. I have been told that I shouldn't be able to connect this far out; but Sprint rep did tell me that the 2700's chipset really locks onto the signal well. So, disappointed that Sprint has been slow to expand in my direction (I live outside of town here), elated that the phone still has enough strength to grab some signal here.

Of course, I live in the Plains - few trees and only rolling hills and, no longer, any buffalo playing on the range. But lots of corn - soon to be over waist high.....

I can tell you factually, the Thinphone has better sensitivity than the 2700. the Q phone is the one wiht the internal antenna.
