Vendit, you are absolutely right, all of this really won't matter for the long run, For advanced internet users Satellite will make all of that obsolete. AT&T has also been on the right track getting out of the long distance market though too, because with high speed access and internet service long distance service soon too is to be obsolete. for them to provide phone and internet services combined much like the phone companies can do now with DSL will be their only way to compete. The next jump is to an all in one service. An all in one package deal, providing internet, and phone and wireless portable service soon will be about the only way to go, if you want to offer your customers convenience. AOL's user base is growing, and will continue to grow because for convenience, Dial up connection currently is the fastest and best way for new users to get on the internet. Once these clients are established If AOL continues it's aggressive management style, and grows to adapt to the changing technology, they will have a lot of satisfied customers, who are ready to use those services. And where better to get advanced users from than from a base of users that already know the internet. For the next few years AOL will continue to grow it's user base, and as long as they do, by the time that technology is advanced enough to offer all those services in one, What better place to find potential customers than from a group that already know, and use technology, than from the ones that are internet, and computer literate already. AOL will be a powerful company indeed. The internet really has only begun, and we have only begun to understand the ways to use it. What better place to invest than with a company that is willing to risk, and take advantage of the changing technology. Chad
