Guys,

I just dont feel good about Novell these days. I havent had a good feeling since February and I still am not receiving any positive signals that they are regaining their focus that they seem to have lost since January. The handling of (or lack thereof) Digital-Me was the first negative sign for me.

I mentioned the departure of Ricard. No one said anything about that on this channel. I feel that is a bad sign of internal unrest people! The Digital-Me initiative is showing signs that its internally in trouble (not being deployed at "Internet Speeds"). I have known Novell and their organization since 1985 and I am getting that feeling that internal mid-management arrogance is causing them trouble again (like it did in their hay-days).

If my feelings are correct and this is happening within Novell then the result is that they will lose focus, good products will suffocate and will not go successfully to market, and good people will start leaving. Ricard might be a sign of this.

I am only speculating but I wish I could see a better sign. Digital-Me making more public waves and coming to market NOW (in my opinion this product could have been a service offering for Novell long time ago) would be a positive sign. Seeing a quick re-hiring of a prominent CTO would be another.

Unfortunately I have fears that there is a possibility that Eric does not have any knowledge of this middle-management corruption (best term I could come up with). He seems to have his personal focus on being the prime promoter of Novell to the world and may have made the assumption that Novell internals are firing on all cylinders when they poosibly are not.

I dont know - maybe my Spidie Senses are completely wrong, but I havent seen the factors that would ease my mind about Novell's internals.

I guess time will tell if I was totally out to lunch.

cheers and Happy Father Day to all!
