Do you have any quotes from Stalin or Lenin to support that theory? I haven't read any of their writings since college, and that was a long time ago, but they seemed pretty damn aethist to me back then. Certainly NOT humanist, secular or otherwise.

Lather, sorry, but the USSR was officially ATHEIST. Too bad I can't tell you to go to the Museum of Atheism the next time you are in Leningrad, because the Museum in question has gone back to being a cathedral, and Leningrad has gone back to being St. Petersburg.

An alternative might be for you to find an old textbook on Atheism -- a subject of instruction in the schools.

Secular Humanist, eh? Ho, ho, ho...Plenty of secular, I'll grant, but very little humanism.

I can't believe you said that, Lather. You were pulling our collective legs, weren't you? And I should have gone to bed when I said I was going to, rather than open up this booby-trapped thread...LOL.
