The Barron's Dell article speaks volumes ...

SUNW is obviously on the right track. MD sounds defensive and scared.

I own DELL stock and a DELL box but wish the knucklehead would realize that NT is obsolete when it comes to the web. And he's NOT tied to MSFT. I wouldn't want MY future tied to obsolete technology.

Thin boxes just aren't selling. And what is very interesting about the Internet is that, as people get faster and faster connections, they want faster, more powerful PCs, not slower ones.

I want whatever Michael's drinking. People are getting thinner, faster, better, cheaper, more specialized units.

Here's the $199 iToaster for surfin' the web ...

news.com

QwikSand and JC Jaros are right on the money.

Check out onebox.com to see where we're headed. I'm buying Software.com ( software.com ) for those interested. It should go public next month.

Best of luck everyone.

Microsoft-Free Appliances are going to win big with JAVA and LINUX like OS's. Microsoft's Windows CE is flawed. It's just a scaled down version of Windows trying to everything for everybody. Why did 3COM choose JAVA? it was particularly well suited for compact and targeted applications. Appliances will be out of Microsoft's control.
