At some point... soon, we want to improve the SI offering (which among other things requires adding more features, better navigation, and more).

As a financial discussion site, it would seem natural to have a link to a trading partner such as Datek just as we have other links including Inbox, Bookmarks, Hot Subjects, Quotes and Portfolios. Maybe the Datek link should be called "Trade" or "Buy/Sell shares."

Instead of an on/off option, is anyone open to the idea where each SI member can name the link whatever they want?

If we had meant to promise you that you would "never see an ad on SI", we would have stated that you will "never see an ad on SI". Instead, the word "banner" was inserted to specify that you would not see a "banner" ad (commonly accepted as a graphical intrusion taking up substantial screen real estate). Similarly we would not have inserted language "in the message area" unless we wanted to leave open the possiblity of placing a banner ad on, say, a stock quote.

You have not been bombarded with solicitations, and we have not displayed "banner" ads in the message areas. No promises were made that haven't been kept, and I think Go2Net has gone well beyond the "promise" to date....for an more than a YEAR and counting.

I am proud of the fact that management has respected the desire of the SI members to keep advertising to a minimum, and Go2Net has surpassed my highest expectations for keeping a commitment that *SI* made prior to the acquisition.
