PC manufacturers face a double whammy: falling
prices and increasingly sophisticated customers.

Stephen,

Hopefully the rest of the article contains better insights than this.

Falling prices for PCs.... Whoever would have guessed without Forrester to tell us that.

Increasingly sophisticated customers... Another amazing revelation.

Only those PC manufacturers that understand
shifting consumer expectations will win the war for
PC market share.

Hmmmm, now which company now selling PCs has shown exceptional skill at winning this war for at least the last 5 years?

[end slight tinge of sarcasm]

Seriously, all semiconductor based products have been dropping in price and increasing in value since the day of the first semiconductor in the mid 70s. Dell's business model takes maximum advantage of that fact; and has given them an overwhelming edge over companies such as CPQ that are trying to sell commodity products using an outdated business model. Until Rosen retires, IMO, CPQ will continue to wither until it dies.

JMHO,
Ian.
