Craig,

Having played the Devil's advocate for far too long, it's a joy to see CF flourish and SNDK longs prosper for their patience.

It would be nice to have a few detractors on the thread. I have feared that this site may become a support group for neurotic SNDK longs. I hope that we have clear sailing ahead, but still the urge to look over one's shoulder is there.

I believe that Q3 may offer an earnings surprise for us. My unofficial tracking has indicated that CompactFlash sales are way up. One site I check daily is selling 30 to 40 SanDisk 48 MB CompactFlash cards daily versus only 5 to 10 cards a few months back. Multiply that times the number of e-mall sites and factor in sales at any one of the 10,000 retail outlets and you get some huge number.

It will be interesting to see how Dr. Harari lays out the course for investors after this Q's earnings report. I believe he said Q2 would mirror Q1. If we do a tad better than that and he hints at firming of the ASP's and increasing demand for CF and MMC (ahead of schedule) we could have an early Christmas here. A couple of earnings revisions by the analysts would be welcomed.

I am very excited about the infrastructure in place to meet market demand in the event that we experience an inversion in the supply/demand ratio. The digital camera market is red hot now and Casio has a number of palm PC offerings on the top 100 list.

Craig, please continue to keep us firmly planted on Earth here. We need a reality check every now and then!

Craig and Thread,

I was shocked recently at the latest Sony offerings. These were on sale at BestBuy and the salesperson said they were "hot"...

Sony MVCFD-83 "Mavica"
1216 x 912 resolution (approx 1.1 megapixel)
solar backlit color LCD panel
1.44 MB floppy drive

Sony MVCFD-88 "Mavica"
1280 x 960 resolution (approx 1.3 megapixel)
solar backlit color LCD panel
1.44 MB floppy drive

These are the latest in the Mavica line and a continuation on the floppy theme. The problem is that the highest resolution setting allows for approximately 6 pictures. Thus, the files are compressed to about 200KB or so. Shutter delay was also annoying. Also, on highest resolution (fine) the camera requires 25 seconds to process and store one image!!!

The Mavica will just not go away!
