"The fact that some people dont have any problems with SI implies that it is something in how SI connects to the network or how it routes. Beyond me really... The primary culprit I suspect is traffic within the ISP itself, though it could also be the "internet" as the source. I actually have good reason to doubt that the server of the web site is the cause despite the fact that is what people blame the most."

Eric, there is no telling for sure, especially from a distance, but you may be correct. It could be something as simple as the type of peering relationship your ISP has in place to support routes that would point to the SI servers. They may consist of pipes that are simply too small, or their ports may be provisioned with filters and pointers to default elsewhere, or whatever, and not worth their time to upgrade or fix without ample stimulation to do so.

This stuff is complicated in parts, but it's not rocket science at the level you're referring to. What, who, is maui.net? I took their name from your profile.
