I don't recommend trading with any "discount" firm in Canada. They're just minimum wage order takers. Having worked in Canadian firms for 12 years prior to my "retirement" last year, I can only say that many medium size full service firms give discounts that are close to or better than discount firms, and you MUST phone - yes, phone - a broker/trader who sits in front of the CATS and VCT machine. It's the only way.

I have just heard too many bad things about Canadian online trading and if someone insists on trading online, they should just simply refrain from trading Canadian stocks except on an end of day basis, or at least on a large intraday time frame, like the 30 (or more) minute chart. And commission "savings" will be blown up by incompetent staff. There are just too many online horrors out there.

And one more thing - anyone who does trade online with a Canadian brokerage firm, please remember to check off "100% short term trading" when you are filling out their account form. Otherwise there will be delays.
