Now that Jeff has addressed 'some' of the issues, I am more comfortable with the rectangle. So I vote with you, Michelle, and look to the profitable future of GNET, and its recognition as the premier site. We love SI as it is, a community, and hope it stays that way.
Nothing stays the same, but the "community" aspect can survive.

<< . An isolated financial discussion site with a bunch of members that were grandfathered in at no cost to them is hardly acceptable to gnet shareholders - would you buy stock in a company with a business model like that? >>

these "grandfathered members" built SI into what it is today.

Just think how small and petty this whining about the link (not ad) look for someone from the outside. Most of the reader of SI are nonmembers. I was a lurker here long time before spending $200 on life membership, and ads are part of life on the internet (and GNET for most readers).

As GNET investor I hope the company will stay in good shape and that the stock price will continues to rise. So far the management is doing a great job at making me money. As SI lifetime member I hope that my $200 will give me long time of quality information. This "green slime" argument (not the "green slime" itself) is a bad sign that lifetime maybe a short time. Maybe It is time to sell my GNET stocks.
